May In Instagram

Hard to believe that it’s already June again. I honestly have no clue where the time goes, but May 2013 was an incredible month! Here are a few of my Instagram pics, showing what I was up to last month.

Some of the highlights of May included:

  • Spending Mother’s Day at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, taking in all the beautiful flowers & butterflies, plus a fabulous brunch with my mom. Can’t wait to get back there soon!
  • It’s been a cooler spring than usual, but we were finally able to start having cookouts. Looking forward to many summer evenings spent grilling veggies and s’mores.
  • Spending time by the lake. This is always the highlight of the warmer months. I love to jog, walk, meditate, collect beach glass, take photos, bust out some yoga moves, and just generally be by the lovely Lake Erie as much as possible.
  • I graduated! This honestly still feels like a dream & if I didn’t already have my diploma in my hot little hand, I would probably think that it wasn’t complete. But yes, it’s official, I’m going by Dr. Star. Just keep in mind that my Ph.D. isn’t in grammar, english, or spelling.
  • We’ve taken up dance and surprisingly Mr. Star loves it. He claims that being able to dance is like having a “superhero power.” Regardless, we are having a blast & learning to communicate on a whole new level.
  • Kicked back and had a fun memorial day weekend, which consisted of minimal yard work and mostly just relaxing with cupcakes and our famous cocktail concoctions.

Hope you’re enjoying the transition into summer!

Around Here In Photos

Holy moly, it’s June mid-June!

Here are a few things that I’ve been up to lately…

Still collecting some of the most beautiful art, craft, and sewing supplies. As usual, my studio is one crazy mess today, but no one can tell through my macro lens.

Baking…lots and lots of baking. Pictured on top are Wookiee Cookies that I baked up to make my Star Wars fan happy. They are adapted from a recipe found in the Star Wars CookBook –one of the cutest cookbooks I’ve ever seen.

The glazed citrus doodles, pictured below the Wookiee Cookies, are more my speed. These doodles are tart, chewy, and delicious. They are not very heavy, making them perfect for spring and summer. Plus, I love the smell of lemon zest that filled my kitchen while I was making these. I did have a heavy hand with the icing on my first batches, so my last dozen are sans the icing goodness. However, they are still very good! I got this recipe from Everyday Food, one of my very favorite magazines.

We’ve been working tirelessly on our yard. Last year we didn’t have time, so this summer its been our goal to have a pretty and functional yard. I saw this cute idea in someone’s front yard–its an old boat filled with flowers. I’m thinking I might try to do this on a much smaller scale, using some of my favorite herbs.

Last, I’ve been spending all of my free time at the beach. The weather has been gorgeous and I’ve been trying my best to soak it all in.

Hope you are taking the time to enjoy this fun and relaxing season!
